IMG_3244Exploring Local History is a new blog, bringing together research, discussions, and discoveries by staff, students, and alumnae of Oxford University’s local and social history courses.

Oxford University is one of the world’s leading centres for the study of local history, with a suite of courses provided through our Department for Continuing Education.

Much of the research found on this blog comes from students on the Advanced Diploma in Local History, an entirely online, part-time course available to students anywhere in the world.

We also have an Undergraduate Diploma in English Local History, an MSc in English Local History, a DPhil programme (all part-time courses), and run a series of weekly classes, short online courses, and weekend and day schools.

This site is edited by Dr Jonathan Healey, Fellow of Kellogg College. A specialist on the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. His own personal blog can be found here.
